DescriptionAt Lufa Farms, we’re on a mission to create a better food system, and with five urban farms (and counting!) producing veg year-round, we’re looking for a motivated, hardworking, and adaptive person who shows leadership and shares our values about sustainable agriculture to become our Greenhouse Production Assistant.As a Greenhouse Production Assistant, you’ll work closely with the Greenhouse Direction Team and act as their right hand at our sites. You’ll help coordinate operational activities, work alongside the team, maintain high safety standards, and provide management support. The ideal candidate is someone who can be versatile and assist anywhere in the production department when needed. In this position, you’ll report to the Greenhouse Assistant Director. Full training is provided, including First Aid certification and jigger certification.Management Responsibilities:•Draft and manage purchase orders in collaboration with the procurement team, ensuring accurate inventory and supply management;•Oversee seed inventory management;•Support and maintain production metrics;•Facilitate email communication across sites and departments;•Handle business-to-business communications and document validation;•Participate in CanadaGAP-related projects;•Generate and maintain operational reports;•Collaborate with the HR department in interviewing, testing, and selecting operational team members.Greenhouse Responsibilities:•Engage in crop work (e.g., clipping, twining, deleafing, fruit pruning) and other greenhouse tasks (e.g., installing sticky traps) as required;•Maintain greenhouse cleanliness and organization;•Participate in weekend checklist rotation;•Occasionally act as the Production Manager to cover vacations and ensure coverage seven days a week;•Execute all scheduled and requested activities by the Production Manager.Requirements•Proficiency in computer usage, particularly Microsoft Office and Google Suite;•Excellent communication and organizational skills;•Ability to work efficiently and accurately with minimal mistakes;•Strong work ethic, flexibility, and attention to detail.Assets•Bilingual (French and English);•Experience in greenhouse operations.Schedule•Monday to Friday, from 7 am to 4 pm, 45 hours per week;•Note: Working hours may vary depending on the season, plant health, and changes in crop production.Compensation & Benefits:•You’ll be eligible to participate in the firm’s health insurance, dental, and disability programs after completion of the probationary period (paid 50% by the employee and 50% by Lufa Farms);•Access to TELUS Health Virtual Care (direct contact to health professionals by phone, video, or chat) and the Employee and Family Assistance Program (professional, short-term counselling, covering a broad range of interpersonal issues);•30% discount on your Lufa Farms basket.
